Between forest and lake

Enjoy a stay at our B&B in Dalarna, nestled in nature between the lake and the forest. We offer a peaceful retreat close to local wildlife, yet we are just a 10-minute drive from central Falun and only 10 minutes from the famous Lugnet sports facility on the edge of town.

750 sq. ft. suite

The B&B offers a spacious 70 m² (750 sq. ft.) suite in a bungalow located in the village of Österå, right by the shores of Lake Varpan.

The suite features a large bedroom, a sauna, a shower, and a bathroom, accommodating up to 4 guests. You will also have access to a lovely winter garden (sunroom)—the perfect spot for dining, breakfast, or simply relaxing.

From the suite, you can enjoy views of Lake Varpan and the nearby Österå Village Hall (located just 50 meters / 55 yards away), a popular venue for larger festivities and celebrations.

Rates and Booking

The suite can be booked as*:

  • 700 SEK/night for a single room (1 person**)
  • 900 SEK/night for a double room (2 people**)
  • 200 SEK/bed and night for each extra bed (per additional person*)

*The same room can be booked as either a double or a single room.

** The rates are calculated from a base rate of the room at 500 SEK, plus an additional 200 SEK/bed per night.**

You serve yourself breakfast in the winter garden (greenhouse). I have prepared everything so that it is easy to set out.

Our two standard beds

all have sprung mattresses.

The shore of Lake Varpan is about 150 meters away, offering swimming in the summer and ice skating in the winter.

Rich History & Culture

The village of Österå is located in the heart of Dalarna—a region renowned for inspiring iconic Swedish artists like Anders Zorn , Carl Larsson, and Arvid Backlund, as well as being the home of the legendary Vasaloppet ski race since 1922.
Österå is also part of the UNESCO World Heritage Site around the Falun Copper Mine. Today, you can still find traces of this historic industrial era; for instance, the village beach originally served as a bustling shipping port for copper ore.

No matter the history here—from clayworks and sawmills to tar production—Lake Varpan always offers truly special experiences. Watching the early dawn light gradually break through the shifting mists in early spring or late autumn is something that captivates anyone, artist or not. The same goes for the fireworks display on Walpurgis Night, as their lights reflect across the lake’s dark water. And on warm summer days, there’s nothing quite like taking a refreshing dip.”
